S2Member plugin for Wordpress is an add useful for those who need to provide users with a website content for a fee.
The plugin is responsible, in fact, to run a registration system for users who want access to our site by giving them each the opportunity to choose the type of subscription to be made ​​to display the contents that are not provided free of charge.

s2Member is available in two versions. The first, completely free, is equipped with a number of features and allows you to use the PayPal payment system in its standard version.
If, instead, buy the Pro version of the plugin we rely instead on advanced customization and use different payment systems like ClickBank, AliPay, Google Checkout and others, we also use advanced tools for importing and exporting users, to manage the coupons (coupon codes) and the ability to integrate PayPal Pro thanks to which we can process payments directly from our web pages (the user, in essence, never leaves our site and all is under control on our website).

Download and install the plugin

To download the plugin in its free edition can, as always, turn to the official directory of WordPress . Once you download s2Member we unpack the archive and upload the folder of the plugin in the server directory (wp-content/plugins).

Plugin Settings

Once activated, all the functionality of the plugin will be available to the user via a convenient menu present on the bottom left of each page of the admin panel of Wordpress.
In the management page of several items we add to customize. Examine them one by one:

Security Encryption Key

This is an optional setting that provides, when activated, a high level of protection. The key personnel, it is better to write down somewhere so as not to lose it, it can be decided autonomously (just write it in the text box) or can be generated automatically by clicking auto-generated. We recommend using this option to allow the plugin to work safely.

Email Configuration

Here we can specify the 'e-mail address and the name that will appear when the plugin will send notifications to subscribers. We try to specify a name that can be immediately indicative for the service offered by our site.

Open Registration / Free Subscribers

This is also an optional setting. By choosing the appropriate item from the drop-down list (Yes, allow Open Registration, Free Subscrivers at Level # 0), so we also allow free registration to the site by users, which in this case, will determine the new writing the user level 0. The management of user levels is something that we will see in later steps.
If we set to No (do NOT allow Open Registration) will not allow users to sign up for free, but each person must register to pay.
