Turning WordPress into an e-commerce with WP e-Commerce

With the WordPress plugin WP e-Commerce can quickly create a true e-commerce site complete with everything. To create our online shop is not necessary to have special knowledge, since to achieve this goal we must not do is install a simple plugin within our WordPress installation. Our shopping site will be ready in no time and soon after we make our website as a real storefront in which to exhibit our creations and products of our company and allow visitors to buy them in a very simple and intuitive.

The plugin WP e-commerce will add several features to WordPress, for example, product management (complete with descriptions, pictures, prices, discounts, taxes, etc..) And promotional coupons. There are, of course, all the features necessary to make the online shopping such as shopping cart and integration with major payment systems.

Installing WP e-Commerce

The 'plug-in installation is similar to that of all other add-ins for WordPress. Just get to the admin panel of our website and click on add new plugins to the square. We perform a search with the string WP e-Commerce and follow the wizard for installation.

Once installed and activated the add, we'll see a new section on the left sidebar in the admin panel of our site. This new panel will be named products and will be the starting point for the creation and subsequent management of our online shop.

In addition to this new box is also added a new entry inside the box settings: the item shop. We start from this area to configure the main options for our store.

Countries and currencies

First we specify, in the general tab, the nation where our business is based choosing among those in the drop-down menu. Similarly we denote the countries to which we turn to the sale of our products.

Further down, there will be also asked to specify the type of currency, and the position of the symbol used for thousands separators and decimal points. Let's click and go to the next update.

Presentation

Presentation tab we can specify some settings for the card products for sale such as, for example, the display of inventories, the evaluation of the product, or the various settings on the cart, the category of items, the preview image and pagination. All the various options are explained in detail.

Payment Methods

To set the payment methods available to users can choose between the entries within the payments. For each method we want to make available must click the edit link at the name and enter our personal data, to allow customers to make purchases properly.

The shopping cart page can be modified and tailored to our needs. Initially we will have to specify whether:

  • users must be registered before going to the cashier;
  • to ship the same billing address (or, in another location to be specified);
  • force users to use the security protocol SSL (if this is installed on the server node. server).

Then we can customize the form in the checkout page. We can arrange the various fields, specify the name, type, options, and also for each module option can specify whether it is a required field. When the settings we click save changes.

With this card we can add more options within the individual product pages or in the summary pages of your purchase. The options can be added are:
