Computer technology becomes more pervasive by the day: until not long ago, he dreamed of seeing a PC in every home. Today, it is reasonable to assume that most people have a computer in your pocket.
At the same time increasing the importance of the Internet, as more and more devices can interact with it. In this context, is part of the decision by Google, a true giant of the hi-tech project to create the Google Apps.
This is a series of applications (apps) very useful and practical (the best known example, Google Maps and Google Calendar ), executable over the Internet.
Google has also decided to provide developers of Google App Engine , a comprehensive set of APIs and development tools for creating new applications, which is structurally similar to Google Apps, which will be supported by servers running the same Google Apps original.
The understandable interest awakened by this announcement among programmers is reflected in the production of development environments specifically dedicated to creating applications that interface with the Google App Engine. We will focus, in this article, on a particular development environment, the most interesting: it is Gaelyk.
What are the considerations which make interesting use of Gaelyk? First of all, this is an open-source project: So not only is completely free to use (the software for free download at http://gaelyk.appspot.com/download ), but continues to improve as a result of innovations introduced by developers.
Secondly, Gaelyk facilitates the development, allowing you to use with great naturalness of many Java libraries, not only of a core, but also produced independently by developers. It is also ensured seamless integration with Google App Engine plygin dedicated to Eclipse .
We can touch as the development of Google Apps will be easy and intuitive: and then proceed with a simple example to configure and use.
Gaelyk will be used in combination with the very popular Java development environment called Eclipse. First of all, therefore, we must download and install the Eclipse plugin integration with its own dedicated Gaelyk. Suppose you have the latest version of Eclipse, or the 3.6 (Helios), a free download at http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ .
At this point, from the main Eclipse menu choose Help, and hence the option Install new software. Then we write in the box Work with the address:
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.6(As can be seen in the figure below).

Press Enter to access the next screen.

Then make sure that the box that the box Plugin SDKs are selected, and proceed by clicking Next. We then continue up to end the installation process, after which you will be prompted to restart Eclipse.
