Install, update and uninstall an application using Mac App Store

Now that the reader is shown the structure of the pages dedicated to individual applications, we can install the application. As we will see, even this installation, it will be really simple.

After a few seconds the following window in which you will be prompted to enter the 'Apple ID that corresponds to the iTunes store created in the previous chapters and the password associated with the ID.

At this point you must provide the correct credentials. Since the account using a credit card, for security reasons, after the third time that the user makes a mistake in typing the password associated with the ID, it will automatically be sent an email to the mailbox (with which it was made recording) by notifying the fact that because of a typing error in the password, the account is temporarily locked. In the email there is a link that you must click to access a page where you can enter a new password and activate your account again.

Added the couple Apple ID and password correct after a few seconds you will see that the application icon on the page of the store, with a nice animation, will move to the dock and the icon will appear in a progress bar indicating the download progress, as shown in the screenshot below:

After downloading the progress bar disappears, and of course will remain on the dock application icon that you just installed. As you could see the installation process is really simple and fast.

Now back in the Store page dedicated to the application you just installed and how we can see, the label under the icon will no longer include the price of the application, but rather the words Installed:

If we move into the category'll Buy your application you just installed and the date of purchase.

Update application

Even an upgrade of an application is really simple. To perform an upgrade, if present, simply go to the Updates category where it will be shown the list of applications to be updated. We show a screenshot on a single application:

As we can see beyond the name of the application to be updated, provides a summary of the changes that were made in this application update. And 'Just click on updates, enter your Apple ID and password (if you're not logged in) to start the update process:

After updating the application of course disappear from the list of applications to be updated. And 'possible to know the number of available updates by simply looking at the Mac App Store icon on the dock because, in the presence of updates, you will see a number on a red background:

Uninstalling an application

We have now all seen how to install an application, how to update an application downloaded from Apple's App Store and now lacks only the explanation of how to uninstall an application.

Again, this is really easy and immediate, in fact, for installed applications from the Mac App Store and in general those applications in the Applications folder is identified by a single icon (as we saw earlier pplicativi larger glia create a folder inside the 'icons of individual software), simply select them and drag them into the trash. With the drag to the trash, we're going to uninstall the application and the operating system will take care also to remove all files related to the application uninstalled.

If for example we need to uninstall un'appplicazione a suite, just go to the suite folder in the Applications folder always try the uninstaller (uninstall the application process as it does on Windows), double click and follow the procedure drove.
