As mentioned above we now present the core of Mac OS X Finder. The importance of this process is easily understood by the fact that it is the only running when the computer is turned on. We can say that the Finder is the real point of access to all data in your computer and the icon associated with this application is as follows:

We are now going to explore the structure and functions of this application.
If you click the Finder icon will open a new window like this:

Do not pay much attention to the folders in the middle of the screen as they are related to my account and therefore some may not be present in your finder simply because you have not installed the applications that created them. Also you can see your files in a graphical manner different from what you see in the screenshot ... but do not worry too will be presented, in detail, all the possibilities that the Finder gives us to see our files.
After this brief period you can divide the interface of the Finder window into several elements: the main window, the toolbar and sidebar.
Let's start by saying that the main window simply displays the contents of the folder in which we stand. From this window you can directly interact with the items shown for example going to explore other folders, renaming files or simply move them to the desired position. In the bottom of the window are two pieces of information: the first lists the number of items in the folder that we are currently exploring (in the screenshot are 47 elements) and the second indicates the total free space on your hard drive (in the screenshot 8.36 GB ).
The last element that remains to be seen in the main window is a slider located at the bottom right of the window. Moving the slider will go gray circle to change the size of the icons in the window. We recommend the reader to set a proper icon size to allow easy identification of any files or folders that we intend to explore.
Posizioniamoci now in the main window and clicking the right button on the window background (ie without making clicks on any element of the window) will display the following menu:

As you can see the first thing you can do is create a new folder. If you click on this menu item a new folder will appear within the main screen which will have the following name: untitled folder. Just type the correct name of the folder to change, permanently, the name.
If you click on general information will open a new window containing the usual information about a file and a folder: that the file size, creation date and other information, so to speak, techniques. On each file or folder, you can go to set write permissions for reading and computer accounts, but will dedicate a chapter of this guide to learn more account management.
Paste the voice element will be valid only when you first made a 'copy operation and the voice is deliberately left out Vista and its discussion will occur when we look at the toolbar of the Finder.
The voice simply aligns aligns files or folders within the main window according to a sort of table and we will see in the next chapter, how to customize the space inside each table cell. The last menu item that will be covered in this chapter is to organize that simply allows you to organize, according to a criterion Sceta, files or folders within the main window.
Finally in the next chapter we will explore the options entry shows a view (because it contains some elements that are worth discussing) and anaizzeremo the Finder sidebar.
