Introduction to iTunes

We are now going to present another native software for Mac OS X, given its popularity, is considered a true symbol of the Apple world, this application is called iTunes and is represented by the following icon:

ITunes Icon

The iTunes application is a relatively dated in fact, was born in 2001 and was presented as a simple media player in which it was possible to organize folders in your music and media files on your computer. Over time the application was progressively enlarged and enriched with many new features and after the huge success of devices like the Apple-branded iPod, iPhone and the iPad has become a useful tool mlto for synchronizing music libraries between the various devices. In addition, after the opening of the iTunes Store (where you can acquisatre music and film) and the AppStore (in stores where you can buy applications for the devices mentioned above), iTunes has also become an indispensable tool for the management and the ' Installation of purchased content from the two stores on the devices.

This enormous amount of functionality that the software operates should not be at the expense of usability, as valid if the always presents a very clean and intuitive interface that can guide you in many operations. Given the efficiency of the application and the exponential increase in devices such as iPod, iPhone, Apple decided to release a version of iTunes compatible with Windows operating system, freely downloadable.

After this brief, but necessary introduction to this software we are going to analyze the interface. By clicking the iTunes icon will open the following window

ITunes Interface

The organization of the interface is always the same because we find the top toolbar contains several icons for everyday use, on the left side we find a hierarchy of folders that we will explain later, and in the center of the window will load the content or selected from the left column or the gray bar just below the toolbar. When you open iTunes the window contents will be central to its iTunes Store. The only difference we find between the iTunes interface and those of other applications that we have presented so far, is that the buttons in iTunes on the closure of the window are arranged vertically and not horizontally.

We are now going to analyze in more detail the toolbar we show a magnification below:

Tools 1 iTunes

The first three buttons are the buttons present in the screenshot of a classical music player, while the light gray bar next to them is the volume adjustment bar. Next to it there is a box in the screenshot It contains information about the song that was played at the time of capture. This box is a box, however, is not dynamic because it is mainly for the display of information on songs played, but informs the user of the activities that iTunes is running. To be clear if you click on the icon of the 'iTunes Store will see a message like this I access the iTunes Store, accompanied by a progress bar.

We now provide an enlarged screen shot of the second part of the tools in the toolbar:

2 Tools iTunes

The first set of icons referring to the type of content display in the main window, and since the display modes are essentially the same as the Finder it is omitted the discussion. However, be interesting to eventually find the search field that can be defined, too, as an object dynamically depending on the context in which we search is made within that context. For example: when the main window screenshot showing the contents of your music and in fact within the field of research is the text I am looking for music. If we try to move on, for example, 'iTunes Store will see that the text will change to try in-store and so on.
