Mail: some customizations

In this final chapter we will mail the application to analyze, in detail, the same menu customization and how to configure mail with another e-mail. So let's move in the menu bar, click on Mail and then on the Preferences item. The window that appears will have the following structure:

Mail Preferences

At the top of the window is a series of icons that will charge you if you click on the sub-menu icon selected in the main window. By default, the sub-menu is loaded, is related to the General section.

In this section you can make customizations General Mail. As you can see from the screenshot you can set the proposed period of time between two queries the mail server to check for new messages and associate to receive a new message to a specific warning sound.

(The article continues below ...)

E 'can also choose the folder in which will be located the downloaded attachments from Mail, and the ability to enable research into the trash folder and spam. We recommend that you enable the check to the trash folder as shown in the screenshot above as it is very useful if you want to find an email that was accidentally deleted.

Let us now analyze the second sub-menu item identified by the Account which when clicked will show the following interface:

Mail preferences 2

On the left side of the interface we have the list of accounts to date, and added in the middle will show all information related to the mail account you selected (in the screenshot does not contain any information fields as they have been deleted for privacy ). At the bottom left of the interface, you will find the usual two icons + (plus) and - (minus) respectively, which allow you to add a new mail account in Mail and delete the email account you selected in the list of configured precedenetemente.

Simply clicking on the + button will show the same configuration window shown in the first chapter devoted to setting up your first email in which email account. It will therefore be sufficient to repeat the same operations to the new account and if the information you provide will be correct you have added an additional email account to mail. Without this, the main window of Mail in the section relating to email accounts set up will also be the new mail account and will rerun the process of downloading their messages belonging to that account.

Now we omit the analysis of the sub-menu icon for RSS because of low educational interest and focus Junk icon that will load the following menu:

Mail Preferences 3

It 'important to make sure that there is a check to the first menu item that refers to the approval of the spam filter. The spam filter is nothing but a set of rules that Mail uses to decide if a message is considered spam or not. You may also want to move it to select the folder Junk Mail to instruct you to enter, automatically, any message deemed undesirable in the folder. As you can see from the screenshot you can select certain types of messages that are exempt from the control of junk mail filters. In the screenshot are enabled all three entries, but if you want a more compelling message the only field that makes sense is the last clear: the message is addressed using my full name.

The discussion of the other icons in the Preferences dialog is purposely omitted because the customizations made by its sub-menus are very intuitive and do not need an explanation step by step.
