System Preferences (Part 4)

We are now going to present the final grouping present in the system preferences identified by the label system. Through the icons in this group will make several customizations, but those that we analyze in more detail are Software Update, and Accounts.

By clicking on the software update to access the following menu:

As you can see from the screenshots, the center of the windows is a button that if clicked, will invoke the process of updating the software. The update procedure is a very sosftware smeplice, in fact the first thing, after clicking on the button, you will see a progress window in which the operating system queries the server for Apple's check for updates. After this process, you will be notified of updates (listing the type of update and the application to which it refers) and simply click on the Install button to start downloading the items and the subsequent installation. Will then be asked to restart your computer.

Always looking at the screenshot above, you can see how you can instruct the operating system to look for updates yourself as often as you specify: daily, weekly or monthly. It is recommended to enable the search for updates automatically and on a weekly basis, both for convenience and to get software up to date.

It 'also possible to monitor the updates downloaded and installed by simply clicking on the Software installed on the top of the window where it will show a change history, its application to which they refer and the date of download and installation.

We are now going to analyze the available menu after click on Accounts:

As you can see from the screenshot on the left dela screen is the list of registered accounts on your computer and in the center window will show all information related to this account. Again referring to the screenshots, you can see that the account is shown as a Director or identified, without going too much in explanation of the various types of permits, is an account that is allowed to do almost anything. Often, to perform some operations, the operating system requires for safety reasons that if the administrator password is supplied correctly will allow the operation svilgimento, conversely you can not do because the permissions associated with your account does not are sufficient.

What made ​​it different Admin account from a normal user account is precisely the difference of permissions associated with the account itself, essential for good management of a computer between multiple users.

Now create a new account. As we can see from the screenshot of the icon below the list of existing accounts is disabled because, looking at the bottom left of the screen is an icon with a padlock with the following label: to make changes. When you create a new account is an administrator allowed only after entering the administrator password. So we click on the lock, insert the required password, and then the icon below the list of contacts will become clickable.

Clicking on it will appear the following window, which will be required to enter certain fields:

The field to which you have the most attention is the New Account fields as there will specify the type of account. As you can see by clicking on that field, there are different types of accounts, but those are the most used and relevant Director who creates an account with the same permissions as the one with which you have access and standards that creates an account that has less privilege compared to the Administrator account, and therefore excellent for use by other users.

Finally at the top of the window you can load the Login Items relating to menu that allows you to enter in a list, applications that want to launch automatically whenever the computer.
