DigiNotar: more than 500 certificates compromise

The attack hurled by computerized ComodoHacker against the Certificate Authority DigiNotar seems about to become quite large and far more alarming than initially assumed, SSL certificates would be compromised in fact over 500.

The looming threat level may not be clearly perceived by the layman, but security experts have argued that the consequences of the attack against CA Flanders could be worse than the spread of the worm Stuxnet.

The major browser vendors would be working to make operational the necessary countermeasures, the Redmond, for example, would have already begun to revoke all certificates for Windows 7, Vista and XP that could have been compromised.

Meanwhile, more than understandable inflame the controversy, so much so that the Dutch Government itself would be launched charges of criminal negligence against the DigiNotar, especially for the slowness with which the CA would seek to give notice of the attack immediately.
