Write the text following a given path

In this article we will see how to write text along a path.

Note: the article was made ​​using the version of Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, however, these steps can also be performed on different versions of Paint Shop Pro

In Paint Shop Pro, you can create different types of text: text vector, raster and text as text selection.
The choice of a particular type of text depends on the final effect you want to create, for example the raster text is a text type can not be changed after the application, while the type of vector text, used in most cases, it is recommended because it can be modified at any time, and also has the sharper edges, compared to tetso in raster mode.

In this article we will create a text element as a vector (vector text). Adapting a text to a path means to associate a form with a text element.

Before describing the steps to perform an image open in Paint Shop Pro, using the key combination CTRL + O or click on:

 



 File -> Open

 
The image we will work to adapt the text to a path, in this article, is as follows:
The first step is to plot a route.
We can do so by using the Pen tool, and drawing lines which we want to adapt a text.

In this case, we draw a straight line as shown in the following:

At this point, we click on the text tool and draw closer to the line drawn.
Notice that near the line, the mouse icon will change slightly rotating the symbol of the text (or a capital) with the addition of a semi-circle below the icon, a sign that we will create the text that follows the track.

Selecting the text tool, you also open the tool options bar.
One of the parameters to set is how you create the text, then choose the parameter How to Create the voice carrier.

Clicking on the line, or path, the dialog box will open the Text tool. At this point, just insert the text and press the Apply button.

We get the following result:


The newly created text is editable both in size and in position along the path, using the Pointer tool (shown in the picture below).

A new box appears around the text selection, which will allow us to place the text in the desired way.
When moving you will notice the presence of a small square icon that indicates the initial point, middle or end depending on alignment imposed on the text.

Associate a path to an existing text

If you'd like to associate with the existing text to a path, we proceed as follows:

  1. Draw a vector object, which acts as a path;
  2. Select the Pointer tool;
  3. Click on the text in the canvas (the text will appear around a marquee);
  4. To add a path we must hold down the Shift key and click on the object that we want to associate with vector;
  5. To fit the text click on the path:
 



 Objects -> Fit Text to Path

 
Separate the text from the path

If you wish to separate the text from the path which it is attached, simply select the text with the Pointer tool and click:

 



 Object -> Ungroup object from the path
