Effect of movement speed (using light trails)

In this Photoshop tutorial we'll see how to apply a special effect to a photographic subject movement tracing trails of light that give the idea of speed.

To create the image I have in mind I decided to avail myself of two images, then I'm going to compose creating a sort of montage. These files that I used for this article:

  • 's image of a car (on which apply motion blur);
  • a photograph of fireworks (which will use to create rays of light ... without having to draw from scratch).

First open the picture of the car and adjust the brightness of the background only: with the Polygonal Lasso Tool and cut out the separiamola our car from the background, creating a level which we call self:

Once the selection of the reverse so as to obtain a new selection with the background only (on which the car will appear as cropped):

Now cut the selection of the background and incolliamola a new level:

Now select the background layer and adjust the brightness:

 



 Image -> Adjustments -> Hue / Saturation

 
and set the three values ​​of Hue, Saturation and Brightness as follows:

Our result at the end of these operations is as follows, as you can see the photo already begins to be more striking:
