Dart (originally Dash) is a new language developed by Google specifically for the web.
The intention of Biggie and overcome the limitations of Javascript, offering better performance, better scalability and enhanced security.

I am not a supporter of the urge to re-propose to create new languages or under other garments already seen that in recent years is taking place (see Go and Ruby, respectively), but in the case of Dart I felt it was the case for deepening understanding of what it is.
They then went on the official website after reading some online first impression and I started to study the (currently poor) documentation.
Advance immediately that Dart is still in development stage, so you will not find at all that you need or you can simply configure your environment to play with the new arrival.
In my case I could not even finish the installation steps because the 'sh automatic configuration of the proposed site of Dart googlecode wings clipped me and told me that my version of Ubuntu (the newest 11.10) is not supported.
In any case, here are the possibilities to run Dart:
The first option is not as easy to accomplish this, the second way does not convince me.
So what?
Fortunately there is a "dartboard" interactive where you can have fun and explore the language in an easy and immediate.
Before proceeding to use the console and in learning to dive a couple of extra information on Dart:
Dart implements those who are called Generics in Java, is an example:
/ / Java List = new ArrayList <String> listaOggetti <String> (); / / Dart List = new List <String> listaOggetti <String> ();
Notice any similarities ... there are several, Dart is greatly inspired to Java, in fact I found it very easy to learn the basics since I use Java every day. For pure PHP programmers might be rather difficult to approach the language at least at first because the differences are quite wide .
I will not go too in examining the features of the language because I prefer to wait for it in a slightly more advanced stage of development.
